MEMENTO MORI

A life of crime

Sentenced to death, is it justified?
Within this empty room, I’m waiting to die
A step towards a utopian world
This soul forlorn…

Deprived of life, now cometh death
A better place for such a hideous wretch?
Counting my days, none are left
I’m coming home

I have done so many mistakes twice
In search for something that I did not find
Now I crossed the line, lost the right to live
Should I be punished or should you forgive?

All these wasted years
My final thoughts – repent, hate and fear
The unknown awaits
After senseless voyages of wearing lengths
But still I wandered on and on and on…
One misconduct too much and now I’m gone

Looking back, what have I done?
Glorious memories, I wish they were gone
I’m but a man, a fool to thee
An empty shell for noone to grieve?

What’s the meaning of this, the price I pay?
The lesson you teach but for whom to obey?
Will the world profit from my death?
My doubts shall perish with my final breath

All these wasted years
My final thoughts – repent, hate and fear
The unknown awaits
After senseless voyages of wearing lengths
But still I wandered on and on and on…
One misconduct too much and now I’m gone

You taught me to value life
Yet you take it yourself
Is it right to play god
In a system created by man?
No sin weighs more than its sinner, more than life
That is my final perception
And now in these last seconds I hope
Someday you could see that too
